The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra is made up of approximately 50 musicians who have found, in the orchestra, a unique place to express themselves.
History of the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra The history of this orchestra is not unlike many of its type, beginning as the dream and desire of one person to bring together musicians to have fun and make music. And in 1999, that is exactly what Danny Yale did. With the help of newspaper coverage and word of mouth, the musicians came... retirees, young people, and every age in between, with a broad range of experience. Before long, the members were (and still are) recruiting new members. Of course, it wasn’t quite that easy. It took persistence, overcoming obstacles and even a set-back or two. But through it all, Danny Yale’s dream of a Pops Orchestra in the Carson Valley took shape and is a resounding success playing to standing room only audiences.
The Orchestra Today Now, nearly 50 strong and rich in talent, the Orchestra (as is typical of a Pops Orchestra) plays “light” musical selections of the finest class ~ music with great appeal to the general public intermixed with some classical pieces that are interesting and entertaining. It is music that you don’t need an advanced degree to appreciate! The orchestra’s own fine talent is frequently showcased in the music it performs.
If you are a professional or semi-professional musician, please consider joining us! We rehearse most Mondays at 7:00 p.m. We especially need experienced string players ~ violins, violas and cellos. Anyone is welcome to attend our rehearsals to listen or play.
Performances The orchestra will offer three concerts in 2007 ~ April 14, October 13 and December 8 at CVIC Hall in Minden.
